Kg. Batu Burok, Kuala Terengganu The history of the origin of Kg. Pantai Batu Buruk began in the 1940s when a group of foreign laborers (house builders) from outside Terengganu wandered and stopped to rest in the coastal area where a cluster of rocks emerged in the sea opposite to their resting place. The condition of these rocks resembled a small and very rough island.

Not long after, those who lived in this area agreed to name the village Kampung Pantai Batu Buruk. The name was chosen in reference to the coastal area and the small, rough island-like rock opposite their settlement, which was named Batu Buruk.

The rock in the sea is believed to be a formation from the hill areas on the mainland, and it is still present today. It is believed to have caves at the seafloor, but until now, no one dares to explore it due to the belief that there are guardians present.Since the village was named Kampung Pantai Batu Buruk, it has been consistently recognized as a fishing village. Every day, more and more people visit this area because many have settled here as full-time fishermen. The affordable prices of fish at that time attracted buyers to come and purchase fresh fish directly. Using wind-powered sailboats, they ventured out to sea to catch fish. With the advent of modernization, they adapted to changes by using outboard engines and faster fiberglass boats for their journeys to and from the sea.
