BringOurTurtlesBack Launches Second Community
Project in Kuala Terengganu to Conserve Turtles as an Icon

The #BringOurTurtlesBack campaign is back with its second community project to support turtle conservation efforts in the state of Terengganu. Organized by the International Seakeepers Society Asia, University Malaysia Terengganu, and Kapas Turtles. The campaign aims to raise RM100,000.00 for the conservation of sea turtles. The upcoming community event, scheduled from June 15 to June 17, 2023, at Pantai Batu Buruk in Kuala Terengganu, will kick off with a community beach clean-up and a talk on plastic pollution on June 15. On June 17, a turtle sand sculpture contest will take place, with the theme "PelestarianTerumbu Karang Demi Warisan Penyu/Preserving Reefs For Our Turtle Heritage." The contest aims to promote creativity and support turtle conservation, and it is open to the public. The event will also feature educational and experiential booths to create a festive atmosphere. The funds raised from this campaign will support four key conservation pillars: education, data collection, habitat monitoring, and funding for community events across Terengganu. Kapas Turtles and University Malaysia Terengganu's Sea Turtle Research Unit are the beneficiaries of this campaign.
